Polynesian Dance

Get fit while learning steps from Hawaiian Hula and Tahitian dance in this beginner-friendly class!

The class will feature a light stretch to wake up the muscles. The warm up will include a short series of arm movements for the upper body; can’t forget the upper body! After the warm up, the class will consist of simple but fast hip movements/steps from Hawaiian and Tahitian dances. The intensity of the class will be tailored to the participants. At the end of the class there will be a short cool down and stretch. Dress comfortably and bring a sarong if possible. Come prepared to laugh, learn about Polynesia and get a good work out!

Aukai (Nancy Redig) has been teaching hula in Tallahassee for 25 years with the blessing of her kumu (teacher). Aukai continues to expand her knowledge by taking classes, continues as dance practitioner in performances, and recently attended the World Hula Conference 2018 in Hilo, Hawaii. She completed the Hot Hula Fitness certification and looks forward to teaching a fun, challenging fitness class.
